On June 24, 2021 the Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network presented recent outcomes to the United States Council for International Business ITC Policy Committee. The meeting provided an opportunity for USCIB members to learn more about the Policy Network’s current and future activities.
The United States Council for International Business was founded in 1945 to promote an open world trading system, now among the premier pro-trade, pro-market liberalization organizations. It has a membership base of some 300 multinational companies, law firms and business associations. The USCIB ICT Policy Committee advocates minimal government intervention and free information flows that ensure the continued growth of new technologies.
The I&JPN Presentations underscored the practical outcomes recently produced in the form of Policy Toolkits for policymakers and practitioners seeking to develop better policies for the digital era.
The event also provided an update on I&JPN’s activities to share knowledge through the I&J Status Reports and regional activities.
I&JPN also shared the different concerns around governing data and data flows including the findings of the recent I&JPN Report “We Need to Talk About Data: Framing the Debate Around the Free Flow of Data and Data Sovereignty” and the upcoming I&JPN Datasphere Initiative.
