I&JPN organizes a Key Findings Workshop on Cross-Border Digital Policies for Africa
I&J convened
October 17, 2022
On October 25, 2022, at 12pm-1pm UTC the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network organized a workshop to share the key findings of the “Internet & Jurisdiction report on Cross-Border Digital Policies for Africa”.
The production of the report is a significant outcome of the project which was designed to complement existing regional mechanisms for stakeholders across Africa to share knowledge, consult each other, interact with stakeholders around the world, and develop a shared understanding of and capacity around digital policy issues.
The report explores why policy coordination is important to building an inclusive and vibrant digital economy in Africa and identifies key trends taking shape across the region.
The workshop presented a first snapshot of the report’s key findings and solicited feedback from surveyed stakeholders on the themes identified and takeaways shared. Facilitators included a team from Research ICT Africa and the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network.
“This will be an important opportunity for us to gather comments on the direction of the report, which aims to be a resource for policymakers and shapers in Africa seeking to understand how cross-border digital policies provide new opportunities and challenges for the digital transformation across the region.” said Tracy Sinkamba Faustin, International Research & Project Management Coordinator, Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network.
The full report will be released on Monday, November 28, 2022 during a special event at the Internet Governance Forum taking place in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Register here for the Internet Governance Forum taking place in a hybrid format from 28 November to 2 December 2022.
