I&J Hosted Special Session at the 2019 UN Internet Governance Forum

The Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network hosted a special Session at the Fourteenth Annual Meeting of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.
The Session provided stakeholders with an update on the work of the Policy Network in 2019, in particular the publication of the Operational Approaches documents, which were developed by the Members of the three Policy Programs of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network and which contain concrete proposals for Operational Norms, Criteria and Mechanisms to address some of the most pressing cross-border legal challenges of the digital 21st century.
In addition, the Session will inform participants on the outcomes of the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network, held on June 3-5, 2019 in Berlin and hosted by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany with the institutional support of the Council of Europe, European Commission, ICANN, OECD, United Nations ECLAC and UNESCO.
At the Session, the Internet & Jurisdiction Global Status Report 2019 was also launched. This Report is the world's first mapping of trends, actors, and initiatives with regard to cross-border legal challenges in cyberspace and is based on an unprecedented collaborative large-scale data collection from the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network.

Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network Executive Director Bertrand de La Chapelle also participated in the panel discussion "Safety and the right to protection" in the session "Security & Safety, Stability & Resilience" at the IGF High-Level Internet Governance Exchange on Monday 25 November 2019.
Furthermore, Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network Deputy Executive Director Paul Fehlinger moderated the IGF Main Session “Issues on the Free Flow of Data, ICT Products and Services in a Digitally Connected World” on Thursday, November 28, 2019.
Stakeholders at the United Nations IGF could meet the Secretariat of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network in the IGF village where the organization was represented with a booth.
The Fourteenth Annual Meeting of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF) was hosted by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin from November 25-29, 2019. The Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network has participated in the IGF since 2012 with special sessions and workshops.
