German Foreign Minister Highlights 3rd Global Conference at Freedom Online Coalition Meeting

I&J Executive Director Bertrand de La Chapelle participated in the 2018 Freedom Online Conference on November 28-30, 2018, in Berlin, Germany.
In the opening speech of the meeting, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas highlighted the importance of the 3rd Global Conference of the Internet & Jurisdiction Policy Network to enhance multistakeholder cooperation to protect internet freedom. Germany is the Partner of the 3rd Global Conference, which will take place in Berlin on June 3-5, 2019 (see official website).
The Freedom Online Conference is the annual event of the Freedom Online Coalition, a partnership consisting of 30 governments striving to advance internet freedom in coordination with civil society and the private sector. The meeting brings together stakeholders to share knowledge and develop joint strategies to face online challenges concerning human rights. Current members are Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, The Maldives, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, United Kingdom and United States of America.
I&J Deputy Director has been previously appointed as a Member of the Rule of Law Working Group of the Freedom Online Coalition, which prepared the Freedom Online Conference that took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on May 4-5, 2015.
